Blind Grandfather Plays Santa Using New Technology from WayAround

Photo of a present with a WayTag on the nametag. There is the edge of a Christmas tree to the left of the present.

Before he lost his vision, WayAround cofounder Armand Fisher passed out gifts to his grandkids on Christmas morning. Or other times, he would read the gift tag aloud so the grandkids could deliver the package. But he hasn’t been able to do that in more than a decade, since he lost his eyesight.

This year, using WayAround, Armand will again be able to pass out gifts to all of his family members. Watch the video to see how!

Armand labeled each package using a WayTag sticker. He placed the WayTag on a traditional gift label, rather than on the present itself, so he can reuse the label year after year. On Christmas morning, he will use his iPhone and WayLink to read the labels and pass out gifts to his family!

“Using WayAround will be a new tradition in our family,” Armand said. “I’m looking forward to being able to participate a little more fully in the preparation for Christmas.”

Using WayTags as gift tags is one of the many ways WayAround can give better information, faster to anyone with vision loss. The sky is the limit in terms of how you can use WayAround. You can label your clothes, kitchen items, important documents, files, and more. We love hearing creative ideas about how to use WayAround, so drop us a note in the comments to let us know how you plan to use WayAround!
